Enrichment Science

Enrichment means giving dogs chances to use natural behaviors — sniffing, chewing, foraging, problem solving — in safe ways.

Different kinds meet different needs: physical exercise (moving the body), mental stimulation (thinking and problem solving), sensory enrichment (new smells, textures, sounds), social enrichment (positive time with people or dogs), and rest and decompression (calm time that lets the body and brain recover).
